Make Sausage Not War

YUM! This past weekend, as we were shopping for countertop slabs, we popped in for a quick lunch at a nearby place we found on Yelp.  And it was delicious!

Seoul Sausage Co.

One of the owners served us and he was super friendly.  The company was started by brothers who first opened a food truck a year ago with a new way to eat Korean BBQ.  They have a great spot in West LA with a poppy art wall, and a kickin playlist.

I love places that have small menus.  You might as well do just a few things really well, you know?

We got the Galbi beef and Spicy pork sausages, and a Flaming Ball, which was our favorite!  It's a deep fried, spicy rice ball with DMZ sauce.  Mmmmm.

Highly recommended all around!

Goodbye to Summer Nails

HI!  Did your Labor Day weekends + parties turn out to be fun, festive, yummy, and relaxing?  I hope so!  Maybe you were able to use some of our tips and recipes from the past week

I know it's supposedly now the end of Summer, but I just can't let it go.  Partially because I just miss it already and that it flew by!  But also, because we are having a heat wave here in LA and even the Westside (which is typically mild and breezy) is hot and [slightly] humid.  I mean, it's no Hotlanta, but most homes on the Westside don't have AC (including mine) since we don't normally need it, so I am sweating my giblets off in that little oven of a house.  Especially at night.  Oy!

Anyway... You already know I like bright nails so it will come as no surprise that Clambake by Essie is how I'm closing out real summer/ushering in Indian Summer.  Its orangey-reddish delightfulness just makes me want to dip a giant lobster in a giant tub of drawn butter.  Lobster Fest with me anyone?

If you're in the heat-wave zone, I officially give you permission to wear this polish for at least 2 more weeks.  And to wear white pants and shoes.  Yes, I have that power.

I live here.

Even after living here for so long, I still have a moment most days where I think, I live here.  It's amaaaazing, and I LIVE here!

After a long day at work yesterday, the last thing I wanted to think about was cooking and dishes...and the hubs read my mind.  Sigh...he's the best!  :)  We hopped in the car with our Papa John's pepperoni pizza (garlic. sauce.), orange Crushes, blanket, and hopes for a beautiful sunset.  And boy, we were not disappointed!

Thank goodness for always having a camera phone in our pockets nowadays. Blurry, but you get the idea...

Nothing beats an impromptu beach date night with my man and art courtesy of God's paintbrush.  Stunning!

Westie: Urbanic Paper Boutique

When we started with these Wesites, I warned you they will get pret-ty specific.  So, when I tell you that I am awarding a Westie to my favorite paper store, you shouldn't be too surprised.  There are always chain paper stores like PaperSource, which are great in their own right.  But this local one is the bees knees!

The Westie for Best Paper Store goes to...

Stationery, Invitations + other fine things

Website HERE, located at 1644 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice, CA 90291

I just love Urbanic!  First off, any of you love paper stores as much as I do?!  They always have the cutest cards, wrapping paper, and specialty gifts.  As far as store genres go, they are one of my Top 5.  Urbanic excels in this category because of owner, Audrey Woollen's keen sense of design.  Even though there is so much variety going on, not one piece in the store feels out of place.

I can spend hours browsing all the notecards, calendars, pens, and washi tape.  It's like the adult version of butterflies in my tummy when I would get to go shopping for school supplies--still makes me go eeeeee!!   I mean, these staplers!?!

And this entire nautical summer display...

And could this speak anymore to my heart?!

I love sending unique greeting cards, so I always get them here.  Urbanic curates products from brands that have so much personality and humor, making any card you send way more personal.  And, they always have Rifle Paper Co., which you know makes me swoon.

It's a must-see on the Westside!  Add that to the list of my happy places...

Check out Audrey's blog called Parcel Post for even more creative inspiration.  And, stop by the Urbanic store or website soon, and make sure you tell them Westside Bestside sent ya!
