This is the story of The Red Credenza.
A few weeks ago, I was in major nesting-mode (whenamInot), so I decided to browse Craigslist to get my mid-century modern fix. And, I stumbled upon this red credenza in all it's gloriousness. Do I have a place for it in my house? No. Am I a hoarder? Maybe.
I justify it by saying that to create a home with eclectic style, you have to collect pieces over time, and snag great things when you see them. Other eclectic people, can I get an amen?!
So...I contacted the seller to see if the credenza was still available. She said it was, but sigh it was about 200 smackers, and I let her know I wasn't able to actually take it--I just wanted to feel near it okay?! So I said farewell to the credenza and put it out of my mind...
...Until, last week, when the seller emailed me out of the blue. She said a ton of other people had flaked on picking it up, and she just wanted to see if I was still interested. She wanted it to go to a good home, and would sell it to me for $20!!! Aaahhhhh! A sign from the home decor heavens! I convened with the hubby and then said YES I'll take it! Then it was a roller coaster of ups and downs...all my emails bounced back, because the Craigslist listing had expired. I tracked it down on another site, and finally connected with the seller again--whew!
And now she's mine, and I love her. Sighhh.
It is an old stereo cabinet, so it doesn't actually open on the front for storage, which is a bummer. But, I'm thinking it could eventually be great as a buffet/bar top in a dining room (if I ever have one). Hooray for Craigslist miracles!!
